Commonly Used Ingredients

Coconut Oil - contains high levels of Vitamin E and is excellent for hydrating. It sinks in deep to condition, moisturize, and soften. It helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cells on the skin’s surface. Mimicking the sebum in your skin, it naturally clears away dirt and helps restores the skin’s moisture barrier. It has high antibacterial and anti-fungal properties to help prevent numerous skin conditions.  High in antioxidants, it also helps prevent and repair damage while improving skin’s elasticity.

 

Shea Butter - one of the best moisturizing, anti-aging, regenerating and protective natural products due to its richness of unsaturated fats, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, vitamin E and D, provitamin A and allantoin. Safe enough for sensitive skin, it protects your skin from UV sunlight, harsh climate, dehydration and pollution damage. It strengthens your skin by stimulating the production of collagen, making it more supple, nourished and radiant. It has been shown to help with wrinkles, fine lines and repairing scar tissue. It is antioxidant rich to fight free radicals, anti-inflammatory and stimulates circulation – it even helps with psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis!

 

Cocoa Butter -  Due to its dense nutrient and high fatty acid content, cocoa butter is amazing for dry skin.  It can penetrate deep-down into the skin and hydrate from within. Cocoa butter contains a high concentration of different antioxidants, which can kill-off a wide range of different free-radicals. It can also be helpful for many skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and skin irritation. 

 

Beeswax – remains biologically “alive” even after it is processed! When applied to the skin,
it acts as a layer of water-resistant protection from the weather and environmental irritants while still allowing skin to breathe. Rich in Vitamin A, it aids in cell regeneration and provides long-term moisturizing by locking moisture into the skin.  It has anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties that soothe easily irritated skin, making it ideal for rosacea or eczema. It also helps soften skin and it's anti-germicidal properties help heal minor cuts and abrasions.

 

Olive Oil - packed full of antioxidants and vitamins! Easily absorbed through the skin, it contains one of the most potent antioxidants, hydroxytyrosol which absorbs free radicals and protects cells from damage at even higher rates than green tea and CoQ10! With high levels of vitamin A, it also helps to heal, rebuild, repair and renew skin cells - great for preventing the signs of aging.  High in Vitamin E to help fight free radicals, it is very anti-inflammatory and an ideal choice for sensitive skin.

 

Grapeseed Oil - This easily absorbed, gentle oil is extremely rich in beta-carotene and vitamins D, C and E. It also happens to have a concentration of essential fatty acids like palmitic, stearic, and linoleic acid that are light on the skin, hasten cell regeneration for tissue repair and balances both dry and oily patches. It can penetrate blocked pores and cleanse breakouts. Fights free radicals to promote the restoration of collagen, it fights wrinkles and minimizes scar tissue. Rich in polyphenols, it has anti-inflammatory antioxidants known to slow the aging process and has a gentle astringent quality to firm skin.

 

Avocado Oil - Ideal for really dry skin, quickly absorbed and unlikely to clog pores.  Highest among fruits in Vitamin E, it is a powerful antioxidant that strongly fights free radicals. 

 

Castor Oil - with concentrated fatty acids, it absorbs easily and deeply penetrates the skin to remove dry patches and restore hydration. It stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, firming skin to delay the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines for smoother, softer and younger skin. Crammed with fatty acids (specifically omega-3), it reduces pigmentation to helps fade age spots, scars and stretch marks. Rich in Ricinoleic acid, it even fights off acne-causing bacteria, funguses and infections. It is also highly anti-inflamatory to help relieve nerve and joint pain along with sunburn and skin irritation.
NOTE: Used topically as a massage oil, it has been used to induce uterine contractions. Avoid during pregnancy to be on the safe side. 

 

Vitamin E Oil closely mimics the natural oils found in your skin, making it readily absorbable and safe for direct use on newborns. A potent antioxidant, it prevents the formation of wrinkles by blocking free radical damage. It treats wrinkles by boosting collagen production, a connective tissue that keeps skin elastic.
It also treats wrinkles and brown spots by supporting new skin cell growth, speeding up cell regeneration and lightening discoloration. Acts as a preservative agent as well.

 

Aloe Vera - is highly regarded for its healing properties since it contains phytochemicals and other nutrients that aid in wound healing and inhibiting the bacteria that cause inflammation.  It contains a multitude of anti-oxidants like beta carotene, vitamins C and E that improve the natural firmness of skin. It keeps the skin hydrated and improves the skin’s elasticity, therefore minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps to remove dead cells and replenishes it with new ones, giving the skin a radiant glow. It also provides oxygen to the skin, which strengthens the skin tissue and keeps the skin healthy. Moreover, it moisturizes the skin without making the skin greasy. Once applied, it releases natural vitamins and enzymes on the skin to produce a deep moisturizing effect that helps to treat and restore its pH balance. Excellent for treating scars, burns and cuts. The cooling effect of the plant helps to regenerate new cells and helps in rebuilding damaged tissue.

 

Lavender Oil - Known for it’s calming scent, it has multiple healing qualities that promote healthy glowing skin in addition to being safe enough for newborns. Some of its skin benefits include being antiseptic and anti-fungal which helps to reduce scarring, prevent acne and speeds healing. It is anti-inflammatory - reducing redness and blotchiness for a more evenly coloured complexion. It is also a circulatory stimulant to bring more nutrients and oxygen to the skin for healthy, more frequently overturning cells.

 

Geranium Essential Oil - Geranium is one of the top essential oils for skin. Geranium oil has the ability to help balance hormones, soothe stress and depression, reduce inflammation, encourage circulation, and lower blood pressure!  As an astringent, it contracts the skin to tighten and firm - giving your skin a smoother look.  It can prevent your skin from sagging long term and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and delay premature aging.  It also encourages your skin to slough off dead skin cells and regenerate new cells, greatly reducing scars and spots.  It promotes even distribution of melanin and revs up blood circulation -which helps even out the overall tone of the skin. Antibacterial and Antimicrobial-keeps wounds from getting infected as well as speeding healing time.  Relieves water retention and swelling. If you have oily or dry skin, geranium oil will bring balance to both! 

 

Rosehip Oil - Light in feel but full of beauty-boosting Vitamin A, Vitamin C, omega-3, omega-6 and retinoic acid, it penetrates the lower levels of the skin to regenerate cells, increase collagen production and rejuvenate aging and wrinkled skin. It also helps restore skin’s elasticity, fade age or dark spots, reduce scars and fine lines, brighten and tighten skin, reduce broken capillaries and balance oil glands for glowing, supple skin. 

 

Grapefruit Oil - has a refreshing scent that is good for depression. It has excellent cleansing, toning and detoxifying properties. Abundant in antioxidants, it fights free radicals, promotes collagen production and can improve skin’s elasticity. It tightens and tones, improving a dull complexion and reducing the appearance of large pores.  If you suffer from oily or acne prone skin, it can balance oils and unclog pores helping to clear blemishes. Grapefruit Essential oil also proves very useful in combating cellulite.
It reduces water retention as well tightening up puffy skin.

 

Lemon Oil - refreshes the mind by removing mental fatigue, dizziness, anxiety, nervousness and nervous tension. Antibacterial and antiseptic to help fight off infections, including pimples and other skin disorders as well as smooth and rejuvenate any cracked or dry skin areas. It is astringent and detoxifying in nature to rejuvenate sagging or tired-looking skin - increasing the luster of dull skin!

 

Rosemary Essential Oil - has long been used by the Greeks and Romans for healing and purification due to it’s richness in phytonutrients, antioxidants and essential acids. It’s crisp, clean smell stimulates the brain, improves memory and mental clarity, aids in decongestion, stiff muscles, boosts liver and gall bladder function, decreases cortisol (stress hormone) levels, strengthens the immune system and helps combat diseases caused by free radicals (cancer and heart disease).  Highly anti-inflamatory, it reduces swelling and puffiness to relieve pain from sprains and joint aches, treat headaches, muscle pains, rheumatism, arthritis, dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.  It stimulates blood circulation and cell regeneration to rejuvenate skin, lighten dark spots and blemishes, remove wrinkles, fine lines and bags, reduce the appearance of scars, tightens sagging skin and improves skin’s elasticity. It is also antimicrobial and antiseptic to help eliminate chronic skin issue like eczema, dermatitis, oily skin, and acne along with rehydrating and toning skin for a healthy, even glow. 

 

Peppermint Essential Oil -  has been used for centuries and is one of the most versatile herbs. Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, iron, magnesium, calcium, Vitamins A and C, minerals, potassium, folate, manganese, copper, Vitamin A and Vitamin C there’s very few health issues it can’t help. Most notably, it is high in menthol which gives it it’s cooling and soothing effect. A very effective natural painkiller, muscle relaxant and anti-inflamatory, it helps sooth inflamed areas from within to relieve aching backs, sore muscles, rheumatoid arthritis and tension headaches. It’s scent increases blood circulation, relieves anxiety, pain, nausea and vomiting, as well as improving memory and mental focus. Antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal & antioxidant it is great for skin and has been used to improve texture, remove red blotches, relieve acne, soreness and itching, reduce wrinkles and lines, brighten dull skin and help counter the effects of sun exposure.
